DEMO RELEASE! Resurrection Gate Vertical Slice

MAJOR UPDATE

I hope you're having a Happy Halloween! 🎃 For this year's festivities I have huge news: a polished demo of Resurrection Gate is now free to play here on itch.

This is the very first publicly available version of the game, as this summer's Narrascope build was a smaller-scale, in-person test run. Since the conference, I've been making updates in order to finish this demo for Ectocomp 2024. I'm thrilled to finally share a solid vertical slice of this passion project that has occupied my mind for years. This world and these characters are dear to me, and I hope you'll find something compelling here as well. Thanks for checking out the game, and please look forward to more in future updates!

In the Demo

  • 🩸 Play through a chapter from Yasha's point of view
  • 🦷 A preview of Laurence's point of view chapters
  • 🩸 An original soundtrack by Ruune
  • 🦷 Splendid illustrations by Jay Schriber, Rowan Oats, and Meagan Trott
  • 🩸 Settings for volume control, adjustable fonts and color schemes, and other accessibility options
  • 🦷 Choice-based gameplay where interactions are driven by a conditional system of character qualities
  • 🩸 A romp through a swamp full of restless undead
  • 🦷 Mirrors, memories, maulings, monks, etc.

🐛 BUG NOTE: A few of the in-passage environment art images by the incredibly talented Nim do not display while playing online via itch. I've tried reducing filesize, editing images, renaming files, and triple-checking relative paths, but I'm still troubleshooting. For a workaround, download the game's offline build and open the index.html file in your browser.

Mobile optimization tweaks remain ongoing, so you'll notice a bit of jank to the way certain elements may overlap on small screens as I work toward more responsive design, but the demo is still fully playable on a variety of devices.

Until next time...

Creep it real,
