Live & Undead at NarraScope 2024!
Hey gang! I attended NarraScope again this year— for the first time, in-person, at the Strong Museum of Play! It was such a pleasure to meet a bunch of IF enthusiasts offline, including new faces, fellow local devs, and many online friends whose work I’ve greatly admired.
There were tons of fantastic talks this year, which will be available online! Take a look at NarraScope's Schedule page for post-conference updates and to see more details about the wide variety of talks. Slides and links are being added as the speakers send them in, and videos are coming soon as well, so keep checking back!
The Strong Museum is a remarkable one-of-a-kind space made more accessible to all conference-goers due to NarraScope's masking policy. I appreciate the IFTF so much. My loved ones and I had a fantastic time and no one has the dreaded con flu.
For this year’s demo room I decided to bring along a brand new Resurrection Gate build. Here's my dearest buddy Jess Cheng, artist and 2020 printmaking resident at Flower City Arts Center, playing the demo:
(She brought me the flowers 🥺💛)
Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came by the demo room to check things out! Seeing people play this game, actually bringing it into a physical space to exist and experience, was incredibly exciting and I'm THRILLED that people enjoyed it.
Ending the weekend on a great vibe, as I was heading home Sunday evening a huge rainbow appeared over Rochester. If you look closely you can see the double rainbow to the right. (Just a fun fact: Pride month is typically June, but Roc tradition is July, so we have double Pride here.)
Now I’m taking some time post-conference to let my thoughts percolate, make a few adjustments, and compress some assets—but when that’s done the demo will be free to play online! I'll make plenty of noise about that when it's closer at hand, but the goal is to update and release a post-NarraScope demo this summer, ideally in July.
To tide you over until then, screenshots of the latest build! The gang's all here.
I've also been working on a new key art/cover art situation, featuring a collage of assets, Jay Schriber's exquisite illustrations for the game, and Rowan's killer lich-teeth.
Look forward to the demo!
